2011. Ink on paper. 9 x 6 in.“It’s sort of taken on a life of its own. Gregory is, in a sense, delighted they needn’t put any more work into it. Tadeusz is anxiously formulating how to stop it. Both are concerned that the result before them is not a logical conclusion but the work of some saboteur.”

2011. Ink on paper. 6 x 9 in.“Now they’re just showing off, he thinks. ‘Tadeusz and Gregory.’ The mere sound of those two names makes the boy want to spit on the floor. It is perhaps only the presence of carpet beneath his feet that prevents him from doing so. This aversion has most likely been carried over from a former self (certain neuroses of hygiene accompanied several of his previous names); likewise, his current disdain for the pair of scientists is a reaction to specific events experienced by someone he will not reconcile as himself (despite corporeal continuity). These lingering compulsions would weaken the case for his practice of pronounced inconsistent identity if only he were to acknowledge their origins.”

2011. Ink on paper. 6 x 9 in.“Tadeusz and Gregory are out celebrating. The experiment was a success. It worked like a charm. They’ve just raised their drinks together in congratulatory self-satisfaction. Liquid is in mouths, but a deflating pause confounds their expectant esophagi and betrays what has gently yet swiftly entered their thoughts only now: further possibilities and far deeper implications. Both men swallow slowly and deliberately in synchronised gestures of defeat. Tadeusz then taps the fingers of his left hand upon the table while glaring at the closed-captioned newscast on the flatscreen above the bar. Gregory loosens his tie, undoes the top button of his shirt, and silently stares into the depths of his beer.”

2011. Ink on paper. 5.5 x 8.5 in.“Tadeusz is sitting on a stool with elbow propped on knee and brow resting in his palm. Gregory is rechecking the calibration of the instruments while trying to ignore the wreckage’s relentless assault upon his peripheral vision. These were not the expected results.”
