Lives and works in Vancouver, Canada. Primarily interested in the following: a) Visual and textual lines; b) the antiseptic tempered by a quiver of the handmade; and c) the diagrammatic and/or explanatory, especially when cloaked in ostensible self-importance without necessarily being true, serious business. Adherence to stringent procedural methods allows for an iterative exploration of the above concepts ad infinitum [read more].

WORK: generative
“Tadeusz’s cautiously thorough methodology is in the forefront of Gregory’s mind as he regards what he has just now completed. It was a reckless leap, and serves to further foreshadow the vast breadth of their combined undertaking. It’s an indication that they will never manage to exhaust all options . . . [they will] never be finished.”
2011. Ink and graphite on paper. 6 x 6 in.
“Gregory is leaning against a bookshelf holding the cup of coffee he brought back from the faculty lounge. Tadeusz is working away at the spare melamine desk while telling Gregory some nonsense about a future forensic scientist-detective who instantly travels specific distances from the Earth to observe through sophisticated telescopes past crimes as they happen. ‘Intercepting the light of the crime,’ he calls it.”

“The potential for several more variations always becomes apparent before Tadeusz is able to finish the current work. He tries to move onto each permutation in turn upon completion of prior efforts, but once he begins working on a new one another set of possibilities is further revealed. It’s therefore impossible to follow any single investigative path through to completion. He’ll have to tell Gregory that they are lost. Gregory won’t be pleased.”

“Looking back at that first informal encounter over coffee, Tadeusz still considers the Gregory then to be a stranger – someone in no way connected to the man who has since become such a close colleague and friend.”

“[While] Tadeusz is thrilled by the enormous undertaking this line of enquiry represents . . . Gregory hasn’t spoken a word to Tadeusz . . . since the initial breakthrough.”
