“The Dead supervise the villagers in the fortification of The End of the World. The perimeter wall possesses both an inner surface and an outer surface. To anyone’s eyes – perhaps from the vantage of a grassy hill northwest of the village where just now three of The Dead evaluate the current progress on the stockade and reassess defensive measures – there is very little difference between the two sides of the wall.”
